The company’s in-house design process draws on extensive experience, industry trends and customer insight to create engineered and original products, that also generate strong margins. With quality and performance being central to Kathmandu’s new design initiatives, ongoing resource investment is made within design, technical development, quality and supplier management functions. A continuous focus for the product team is the ability to provide a broad range of technically credible apparel and equipment products that appeals to the needs of our broad customer base.
Kathmandu views innovation as critical in driving continued growth. A recent example is the Retreat Compass Shelter which uses a highly innovative “one-of-a-kind” design. It allows customers to connect their Retreat tents (up to three) to the Compass, with the Compass providing a central living area, or additional room.
